Where should an injured employee go for initial treatment?

 By law, an injured employee may choose any qualified health care provider for initial treatment, including their own provider.

Beacon Mutual offers a Preferred Provider Network (PPN) in Rhode Island with providers experienced in treating work-related injuries. A PPN is not currently available in Massachusetts or Connecticut.

Your chosen provider may refer you to a specialist without prior approval from your employer’s medical provider. An initial emergency facility visit does not count as your first provider choice. However, if you see a provider more than once and later decide to change doctors, you must choose a provider from Beacon Mutual’s PPN.
